       In order to keep and maintain healthy skin, and this is about ALL body skin and not only the face, we all need to understand that our skin's main job is to protect our inner body from external conditions, not exactly to make us look young and beautiful. Still, skin plays one of the most important roles when it comes to image as people will notice yours before anything else and it can certainly help you making a great first impression if you properly look after it.

      This is why it is so important to take matters into your own hands and maintain a healthy diet and good habits; you will not only improve your inner body health but the outcome will be a healthy and younger looking skin. Basic theory, there are three layers of skin; epidermis, dermis and hypodermis.

The epidermis is the first thin layer that gives your skin the look and feel it has and its main component is water.

 

The next layer is the dermis and its main components are elastin and collagen, for elasticity and strength and it is also where sweat layers are located.

 

The last layer is the hypodermis, which contains fat to provide cushion to the inner organs.

 

The basic steps of a daily routine to maintain healthy skin include:

Good cleansing routine: to remove dirt and impurities that clog your skin than can stop it from breathing.

Drink water: essential to flush away toxins that cause dullness and acne problems. Water will also help your skin to absorb the nutrients it needs.

Consume essential fatty acids: adecquate amounts of these will help the skin to build up lipids to retain moisture and nutrients as well as protect you from sun damage. Without fatty acids, skin will sag and dry.

Sun protection: without it, your skin will wrinkle and sag by breaking down the collagen and losing elasticity plus increase the chance of developing skin cancer.

Maintain a good intake of antioxidants: these are food-based nutrients and can be found in plant-based foods, fish and certain oils. These fight free radicals, which are molecules that destroy healthy cells and can even contibute to cancer problems.

Regular exercise: to increase blood circulation, regenerate cells and to sweat, as this  unclogs the pores and liberates toxins that otherwise would be trapped in your skin for your body to fight against.
